The new lab washers from Miele: Slim on the outside, flexible on the inside

Freestanding Miele lab washers from the new SlimLine range deliver on the promise in their name: With a width of only 65 cm, they require only a small footprint whilst offering maximum capacity. Telescopic racks which can be fitted at various levels inside the chamber are the secret to the best possible use of available space.

All models will be on sale from 1Q19 onwards and available in a variety of model versions to meet user requirements in full. Models from the PLW 6011 series offer space for two ergonomic telescopic racks which can be fitted at three different heights; model PLW 6111 has a taller cabinet, accommodating up to three racks at a choice of 4 different positions. This creates additional flexibility in loading and facilitates a maximum loading height of 630 mm – allowing the cleaning of large-volume laboratory vessels with a capacity of up to 50 l. A major benefit of these machines is a particularly ergonomic above-floor loading height of 850 mm which obviates the need to stoop when loading and unloading.

The versatile controls offer 40 programme slots. Users can select from pre-configured programmes or create and save their own customised cycles. The controls are operated via an easy-to-clean SoftTouch glass panel. During a programme cycle, the colour display presents all relevant information, including the cycle countdown time. During reprocessing, the wash process is in full view of the user, thanks to an all-glass bottom-hinged door and cabinet lighting.

For particularly short cycles, the use of an electrically heated boiler, located below the chamber, is recommended. A conductivity monitor is also available as an optional feature. This device makes sense when the objective is to reduce residuals in the final rinse to a minimum. If there is no on-site supply of demineralised water, clients can opt for model versions with integrated water softening.

Integrated hot-air drying, which like the water heater is electrically heated, speeds up drying. Additional process security is offered by the integrated HEPA H14 filter, which ensures an intake of sterile drying air (>99.995% retention rate).
