Controlled Pore Glass and Columns
Since Merrifield first described solid phase synthesis, researchers have
investigated numerous supports for the chemical synthesis of DNA.
Controlled Pore Glass (CPG) has proven to be the most accepted standard,
with features such as high surface area, efficient mass transfer and
chemical inertness.
Because the pore density of CPG can be adjusted, the solid support can be
tailored to the size of the synthetic oligonucleotide required. Bigger
pore size is typically preferable in minimizing steric effects during the
synthesis of long oligonucleotides, while smaller pore size fosters
improved synthesis consistency.
Our process guarantees consistent production of CPGs to specifications
designed for DNA synthesis. All products are tested in our Quality Control
labs for coupling efficiency and base purity, prior to release. Proligo
Reagent's facility in Hamburg, Germany is ISO 9001 certified.
